Azure Stack

Azure Stack IaaS Services

Azure Stack IaaS virtual machines are a scalable computing resource available upon request. Azure Stack virtual machines provide flexible virtualization capabilities.
You do not need to manage individual clusters or machines. However, you still have to maintain the virtual machine by performing various tasks such as: setup, fixes release and install software that runs on virtual machine.

Available VM configurations

Virtual Machines Scale Set
Virtual Machines Scale Set template allows to:
  • Deploy a set of load-balancing VMs
  • Flexibly manage VM configurations from scratch
  • Solution is aimed to suppot large computing environments, big data and containers
Virtual Machine Availability Set
Virtual Machine Availability Set template allows to:
  • Feel certain that each VMAS machine is hosted on a separate node in Azure Stack physical cluster
  • Provide sustainable operation of service hosted on VM in the event of failure of a physical node in Azure Stack cluster
Size of virtual machines
Supported virtual machines in Azure Stack and their configurations are available here.
Azure Stack uses several resource limiting methods:
  • For virtual machine

    For virtual machine outbound traffic exist bandwidth limitations;

  • Azure Stack has I/O

    Azure Stack has I/O restrictions for storage resources;

  • The maximum throughput for a VM

    The maximum throughput for a VM with multiple disks is 500 input/output operations for Standard, borderline of I/O operations for Premium depends on the size of the virtual disk

Azure Stack managed disks
